Salem

Robert Wayne King (87) of Salem, Oregon, graduated from this life on May 24, 2025, at the home of his son in Stansbury Park, Utah, where he had been receiving hospice care following a stroke he suffered in February.

He was born on April 14, 1938, in Spokane, Washington to Floyd King and Thelma Prause and was the youngest of 3 children. At the age of seven, he lost his father in an airplane accident in Monmouth, Oregon where his father was a flight instructor.

When he was nine years old, he was involved in an accident at home involving a dynamite cap. He lost parts of his left index finger, left thumb, and his vision. As part of his recovery and rehabilitation, he enrolled at the Oregon School for the Blind in Salem, Oregon. He participated in the career preparation programs, learning electronic and mechanical repair. He graduated in 1958 from North Salem High School, where he participated in the Choir.

Robert then attended Oregon Technical Institute in Klamath Falls, Oregon. There he met and married, Annadele Martinek. They purchased a home in Salem in 1972 and lived there for 53 years.

He loved using his Ham Radio and owned several radio repeaters and towers, some of which populated his backyard. Robert developed many friendships with other Ham Radio operators and found great joy in conversing with them frequently.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife Annadele (2020) and is survived by his 3 children, Damon (Debi), Malinda (Dallen), Brien (Kristy), nine grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren with the fourth expected in November 2025.
