Susan Marie Taylor, 69, of Salem, Oregon, passed away on October 28, 2026, following a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Susan was born on June 30, 1957, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, to the late William and Dorothy (Bean) Campbell. After graduating from Prairie du Chien High School in 1975, her adventurous spirit eventually led her west, and she moved to Oregon in 1979. Susan spent most of her adult life in Oregon City, where she dedicated many years of service working for the Clackamas County Corrections office.

Susan was a woman of many creative passions. She had an eye for a good deal and loved spending time hunting for treasures in local thrift stores. She had a shoe addiction. She was an avid reader who could always be found with a Stephen King novel in hand, and she possessed a deep love for sewing. Susan beautifully combined her talent at the sewing machine with her immense love for babies, spending countless hours lovingly making hats to keep newborn little ones warm. Above all, Susan adored cats and her family. She became a mother at a young age to her son, Michael Kress. She later married Bob Taylor, and together they loved exploring the world, sharing many travel adventures until his passing in 1999. In her later years, she found companionship and joy with her life partner, Joe Koubek.

She was a deeply proud grandmother to McKenzie, Trinity, Ben, Jakob, and Sophie, and a doting great-grandmother to Luca. Susan is survived by her son, Michael, and his wife Sheila; and her siblings, Doris, Gary(Carol), Richard, and Larry(Elaine); her life partner, Joe; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dorothy, and her husband, Bob.

A celebration of life is currently being planned.

In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Susan’s immense love for animals, please consider making a donation to your local cat shelter or rescue. She would love nothing more than knowing her memory helped a cat in need.
