Ronald Lee Flory, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on October 13, 2025, at the age of 78. Ronald was born on April 25, 1947, in Ohio.
Ronald’s dedication to service was evident throughout his life. In 1966, he served a mission for his faith, serving in the Northwestern States Mission. His devotion to his church and community continued as he answered the call of duty, serving in Vietnam with the Air Force in 1969. After returning home, he dedicated himself to making a positive impact on the lives of youth, culminating in his retirement in 2013 from the MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility.
Outside of his professional life, Ronald was a man of many interests. He instilled values of preparedness and leadership by being actively involved in the Boy Scouts. He cherished moments spent in nature, whether camping or enjoying beach trips with his family. A devoted fan of sports, he was particularly fond of the Ohio State Buckeyes, passionately supporting his team. His creativity found expression in woodworking, where he crafted pieces that reflected his skill and dedication.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Carol, and their children: Cheryl (David), Chris (Shanae), Chareese, LeeRen, and Garrett (Jenell). His legacy continues through his ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who will remember him as a nurturing and dedicated family man. He is also survived by his sister Nancy and brother Walt (Cindy), who cherish countless memories shared with him.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ruby, father Lawrence, sister Zelma, and brother Larry Jr. Each of these relationships profoundly shaped Ronald's life and character, leaving a lasting imprint that will be carried forward by those who remain.
A funeral service to honor Ronald's life will be held on October 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 862 45th Ave NE, Salem, OR 97301. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate and reflect upon the remarkable life of a man who touched so many with his kindness, strength, and unwavering spirit.
