Rita May Dewey

Rita May Dewey of Salem, OR passed from this life March30, 2026 and fulfilled the scripture in 2 Corinthians 5:8; to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Rita was born on July 15th, 1950 in Orange County, CA to William Robert Stewart Jr., and Jeanette Rose Stewart.  Rita married James Lee Dewey on October 4th, 1969 in Las Vegas, NV.  Jim and Rita stayed the course through tests and trials, good times and bad times, in richer and poorer, in sickness and health, until "death did part".  

Rita enjoyed many things; sewing, counted cross stitching, and having everything organized (sometimes to a fault).  She also enjoyed bookkeeping, singing specials in church, and "nit-pic cleaning".  Rita says you will have to ask her sisters and children about that.  Rita is survived by her siblings; brother Arnie Stewart, and sisters; Chris Davis, Claudia Meeks, Linelle Delgado, and Paula Meeks.  Jim and Rita have raised three wonderful, caring children; Jason, Tommy, and Autumn who have added to the family their spouses; Jason and Monica Dewey, Tom and Rebecca Dewey, and Autumn and Ron Pierce.  Jason, Tom, and Autumn added 11 grandchildren who in turn added seven great-grandchildren...and counting.  Jim and Rita's faithful yorkie, Sissy, remained at her side until the end.  

Rita's funeral service will be held April 11, 2026 at Christian World Fellowship in Salem, OR.  She will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery in Happy Valley, OR.
