Karen Lee Woodward

Nov 26, 1948 — Jun 5, 2026

Independence

Karen Lee Woodward, the daughter of Fred J. Albrecht and Betty Ruth Hall, age 77, passed quietly at home after a brief, but fierce, battle with Pancreatic cancer. She was an educator throughout her life serving special needs students and working extensively with the 4H organization and providing riding lessons,

Karen enjoyed traveling to see family and, most passionately, anything related to her horses or dogs. She and her late husband John owned three different horse properties in their lives, providing boarding, lessons, and a community for/with riders to participate in competitions, trail riding, parades, and lessons.

Karen loved her animals and was happy when spending time with or around them. She was very athletic, especially in her youth, and greatly enjoyed following women’s gymnastics on television. She was also known to cut a rug when her favorite dance music came on!

Karen was actively involved in her family’s lives and loved to spend time with her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her son: Robert Jeffery Kassebaum (Melanie) and her daughter Anne Elizabeth Nichol Ohri (Brian), her brother Roy Albrecht (Cindy), and sister Linda Zinke, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at noon. The address is 5785 Aumsville Highway SE, Salem Oregon.
