Judy Ann Jarrett Turner Hall was born in Abilene, TX on August 14, 1935, to Walter and Myrtle Jarrett. She had an idyllic childhood and into her adult years in Abilene. She felt as most others of that era did, that it was the best of all times in which to grow up. She would laugh to say that her greatest accomplishment in life, other than having terrific sons, was to have been elected the first female student body president of Abilene High School and that she should have made a career in politics. She can think of only one campaign promise that she fulfilled. After graduating AHS, she attended McMurry College in Abilene and transferred to SMU in Dallas for the remaining 2 years, receiving her degree from there.
She enjoyed being John Womble’s secretary at Western Cotton Oil Co until December of 1958 when she married Jerry Turner and moved to Pensacola, FL for Jerry to complete his Naval Aviation program. Upon completion of Jerry’s training, they moved to San Diego, CA and from there to Lemoore Naval Air Station. Three sons were born to them during these years: Mark, Clay and Rick.
Jerry and Judy were divorced and in 1967 Judy married Jerry Hall who was employed by Pan American World Airways. They made their home in Concord, CA where she gave birth to a fourth son, Jason. In 1972 the family moved to Medford, OR where they lived for 35 years. For 18 years, Judy was employed by Orthopedic & Fracture Clinic (which later became Southern Oregon Orthopedics). She made friends during those years who remained steadfast. Judy was an active member of P.E.O. Chapter CG. She attended First Nazarene Church.
Judy loved to cook and share meals with friends and delighted in taking food to folks in need. Reading came in a close second for things she liked to do. Opening their home to her boys’ friends and the use of their pool in Medford gave her pleasure. In 2006, Jerry and Judy moved to Silverton, OR to be closer to their grandchildren. After moving to Silverton, Judy became a facilitator for Ladies’ Bible Study at Salem First Nazarene Church. This gave her the opportunity to share the good news that it is possible to have a personal relationship with Jesus. Even though she was no longer able to facilitate, she still tried to get that news across to everyone.
Judy is survived by her children, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren: Mark Turner (Oregon City, OR), Caleb, Sierra, Alba, Meryl, Branden, Baker, Jesse; Clay Turner (Casper, WY) Kara, Ben, Savana, Ridge, Colter, Sam, Jacob, Kate; Rick Turner (Keizer, OR), Trina, Whitney, Allison, Haley; Jason Hall (Oregon City, OR), Tricia, Tucker, Raven, Rebel.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Rachel Turner, her first husband, Jerry Turner and her beloved husband of 52 years, Jerry Hall, her parents and her siblings, Walter Allen Jarrett and Jerry Vernon Jarrett. In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held. A private ceremony for family members will be planned for a later date.
