Jason Eben Horne

Nov 12, 1975 — Jun 20, 2026

Salem

On June 20th, 2026 we lost a husband, a father, a friend, an intellect, a humorist, and a creative. Jason Eben Horne died at Salem Health hospital when he experienced septic shock in response to an inflammatory process in the colon that progressed over just a couple of days. He was 50 years old.

Jason was born November 12, 1975 to Melvin Horne and Alison (Keppie) Horne in San Diego, CA and is preceded in death by both parents. His family relocated to the Redmond, WA area when he was young, where he attended Sacred Heart School followed by Eastside Catholic High School. As a teen and young adult, he had many adventures, such as attending Seattle scene concerts, with friends that remained dear throughout his life.

He had a wide variety of jobs throughout his years, including waiting tables, managing a game store, administering HIPAA compliance policies, managing direct support professionals, and scheduling for Western Oregon University where he worked at the registrar’s office at the time of his death.

In 2011, he met the person who was to become his wife; they had a whirlwind romance and married after just six months together. He returned to school and was working toward his undergraduate degree through Seattle Community Colleges and University of Washington. The couple welcomed two children into the world. Their family relocated to Salem, OR to be closer to his wife’s family. Jason is survived by his wife, Carrie McMullin, and his children, Cecily Horne and Elliot Horne. Jason was a steadfast and supportive father.

Even though Jason could turn up the social charm when needed, he was an introvert at heart. When he wasn’t working or spending time with the family, he could be found gaming or building and painting models.
