Gene Allan Stewart was born on October 27th, 1972 in Portland, Oregon to Carl and Ann Stewart. He passed away early on September 20, 2025 in Salem, Oregon due to complications of diabetes.
Gene is survived by his father Carl, brother Joshua (Lindsay), his stepbrother Dylan (Sky), stepsister Wanda, niece Cheyann, his adopted daughter Kendra (Jonathan), aunts, uncles and cousins and countless friends and clients who adored him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Stewart.
Gene graduated from Phagans School of Beauty in 2007 and loved bringing out the beauty in everyone with his talents. His salon chair was so much more than a place to get a haircut, he left each person laughing, smiling and gorgeous every time.
Gene loved to dress up and perform as his alter ego, Alana (Fox) Roxx and held multiple titles in Salem's ISCWE, including Debutante in 1999 and Princess in 2001 which he was very proud of. Alana was sassy and fun and absolutely beautiful.
Gene's "adopted" daughter Kendra first met him when she was five years old. He quickly became family as "Auntie Gene" then "Fairy Godfather". When Kendra's bio-dad was no longer in her life, she nervously asked Gene to be her dad and he was delighted. Gene told her that he always wanted a kid and he took on the role proudly, including participating in the dad role at her wedding. Gene was a very loving dad to Kendra and she will continue to honor his legacy of spreading love and acceptance.
Gene was a force to be reckoned with. He was larger than life and lit up any room he entered. He loved with his entire heart. If he loved you, you felt it to your core. If he judged you… well, same, because we all know Alana could be a salty one. He was creative and talented and put his every being into making a special gift for someone, just because. He had the most insane, but brilliant ideas, and was able to bring them to life. His vault of random facts and information was outstanding. His style and fashion sense were impeccable, always dressed to impress even in comfy clothes. He loved an excuse to get all dolled up and he always brought it. He enjoyed adventures with his friends and carried a good time to any event. He touched so many lives, and our world is better because he was in it. He is sorely missed and left a huge hole in the community.
We have lost an amazing human, let's remember to honor him by being kind and loving one-another as he was such a big example of doing.
