Angie Boatwright, age 62, of Salem, Oregon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 30, 2025.
Born on August 27, 1962, in Oakland, California, to Jim and Judy Gibson, Angie lived a life marked by joy, compassion, and deep faith. She came to know and follow Jesus at a young age, and her relationship with Him remained the foundation of her life.
Angie’s life was full of adventure. Whether she was living in Europe in early adulthood, spending a day at the Oregon Coast, or camping with her family at Champoeg State Park, she loved to experience the beauty of the world around her.
In May 1995, she married David Boatwright, her husband of 30 years. Together, they raised their children, built a business, and lived a life rooted in service, faith, and family. Angie was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend—always ready to listen, encourage, and pray.
For several years, Angie worked in the Salem-Keizer Public School District as an Instructional Assistant in the Special Education Department at Leslie Middle School and other area schools. She was kind and gentle, bringing a calm and steady presence to every classroom she served. She cared deeply for her students and fellow staff, who loved her dearly in return.
Angie served her family, friends, church, and community with a heart full of love. In places where some might turn away, Angie leaned in. Alongside her husband David and a team of dear friends, she participated in prison ministry, sharing the Gospel through powerful dramatic reenactments in prisons across the West Coast. She also volunteered faithfully in a number of Bible studies, church planting efforts, children’s ministry on Sunday mornings, and outreach to those experiencing homelessness.
Angie was a true prayer warrior and faithful worshiper through both joy and sorrow. Through it all, she was a steady source of encouragement—consistently pointing others to the hope and peace she found in Christ.
She is now reunited in heaven with her grandfather Larry and her father Jim, and she leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and love. She is survived by her grandmother Betty; mother Judy; siblings Shelly and Smokey; husband David; children Jeremy, Bethany, Emily, and Annie; and eight beloved grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating her life and faith will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Alliance Church. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to Union Gospel Mission or Oregon Friends of Felines.
